Dear 2025,
Hope you did well.
You are no longer present, yet you live through memories not as something gone, but as something deeply felt. Thank you for everything. Literally, everything.
Selaiyur's Pet CatThank you for the people because without them, you would have meant nothing. You were a year of extremes:
the unwanted farewell,
the harsh truth of long distance,
the spirit of brotherhood,
the warmth of peace,
and the quiet companionship of my only longing friend Mr. Alone.
Thank you for the lessons and experiences. I never imagined that stepping away from hospitality with curiosity would open doors to a life full of opportunities. The year began with high expectations and a strong hunger to fulfil most of them.
New habits were formed from writing to becoming a content creator. Slowly, I stopped merely living and started making memories. On January 7th, the journey began with writing my first page in a diary gifted by Rufus Sir. Coincidentally, I ended the year with a new diary from the same great person a beautiful full circle.
This year was packed with moments:
Kathir, Pongal, Deepwoods, CA3, last semester, night-outs, viva, projects, internship at BHEL, farewell, Hall Day, GSA, Tycoon, THOTS, Best Outgoing Senior, War on Birthday, trips to Theni, Valparai, Kerala, Tirunelveli, Madurai and finally landing in Delhi with very little time spent with family.
Deepavali, calls, reports, CP event, Moonshadow ’25, breakdowns, Christmas in Gurugram and wrapping the year with a peaceful sleep.
I earned my second salary this year first from MCC and then at Jindal Realty.
I closed my first sale.
I started calisthenics, hit the gym at least four days a week after July, ate better food, never missed my roots, surprised my family with visits, took new challenges, learned a new language (Hindi), read 7 books, read The Economic Times from Tuesday to Sunday, called my parents daily, stayed connected with close ones, built new friendships and professional connections in Delhi, made financial decisions on my own and most importantly, showed up every day with the intention of becoming a better version of myself.
Social media evolved too.
Instagram grew from 1,100 to 1,223 followers, with reels touching 150K views.
Started posting on YouTube now at 69 subscribers.
LinkedIn crossed 850 connections.
WhatsApp became professional. Snapchat was uninstalled.
Duolingo streak still burning at 197 days.
Spotify became my therapist.
ChatGPT — my assistant.
Blogger — my digital valve for thoughts.
You transformed me from a strong boy into a brave man. As a passed-out teenager of 20, I’m deeply grateful for you. You made me feel alive. Life, after all, is about experimenting not just surviving. I know your successor, 2026, will be another beautiful chapter. With hope, courage, and curiosity, I’m ready to welcome it.
Thank you, 2025.
I’m grateful to had you in my life and I’m ready to write the next book, with new chapters.
Your experienced soul,
Sabarinathan Murugan
Wishing you all a prosperous and exciting New Year 2026.
