Habit Maxxing - Learn Guitar and Compose a Song
Habit Maxxing: I Composed a Song!
Yes, a song!
For the first time in my bloodline, I wrote lyrics, created a tune, and composed a song. All of this comes after just six months of playing the guitar.
Just six months. I bought my guitar back in January 2026 with the simple goal of making practice a daily routine. I strummed regularly and spent hours practicing individual songs to understand how music is actually formed. Reaching a point where I could see the underlying skeleton of tunes and melodies was a game-changer. I realized that just learning wasn't enough, I wanted to apply it. So, I started experimenting with my own ideas, which eventually grew into full compositions.
To my surprise, the music reached a good number of people, and they actually loved it! Maybe I need to invest even more time into this, but for now, I'm definitely keeping this habit going.
First Song: Ava Kannora
Second Song: Malai Neera Mayakam
And lot to come...
For me, this was never about mastering every technical detail of the guitar. It was just a childhood dream to strum a guitar once in my life. Seeing that dream evolve into writing and composing my own songs feels surreal.
There is still a lot of work ahead, but this journey taught me something important: a habit isn't just about logging hours; it's about who you aspire to become. Others might find it hard to understand, but that's because it's your aspiration, not theirs. Today, I can say I am a guitarist and a composer. (I know five basic chords, progression and strumming patterns)
